Canaccord Genuity G Ventures closed a $15-million initial public offering and started trading under the symbol CCGV.UN as the first growth-acquisition corporation (G-Corp) in the exchange’s pilot program. (The Logic)

Talking point: Neo Exchange launched the pilot in April at the tail end of a special-purpose acquisition company (SPAC) craze in the U.S. that prompted a warning from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. With G-Corp, Neo attempted to create a new kind of publicly traded acquisition corporation, falling between some of the requirements of a SPAC and a capital-pool company (CPC), such as how much capital the vehicles need to raise. CCGV will now have 24 months to identify a qualifying transaction (a deal to acquire another company) and must complete the deal within 27 months.
