Talking point: Wealthsimple’s chief investment officer, Ben Reeves, said in a company publication that the new ETF is different from existing eco-friendly financial products. The fintech said the green bonds fund projects that actively support environmental initiatives, in contrast to funds with exposure to companies that are environmentally responsible. Wealthsimple said the ETF, which is trading on the Neo Exchange under the ticker symbol WSGB, tracks bonds that are issued by firms in developed countries and verified by the Climate Bonds Initiative, a London-based non-profit.
