Last year’s Supreme Court decision said the company’s policy—that drivers agree to resolve any dispute through mediation and arbitration where it was based, in the Netherlands—led to unequal bargaining power. Uber, facing a potential class-action lawsuit, said it has since changed its arbitration rules. The new announcement means Uber’s fees will be subject to GST, PST and HST, though it said there will be no new fees for most restaurants, drivers or couriers.
