Talking point: Talks between the union and Canada Post broke down last Wednesday, after the federal mediator suspended discussions with parties “too far apart on critical issues,” Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon wrote on X. The following Friday, the union filed a complaint accusing Canada Post of using layoffs as an “intimidation tactic.” In response, Canada Post proposed a new framework. MacKinnon has urged both parties to adjust their positions for mediation to proceed.
