The Vancouver-headquartered ID-verification firm has a director and other key staff in the country, and plans to open a physical office in the coming months, said spokesperson Alison Gallagher in an email to The Logic. She added that Trulioo is now hiring in Singapore, but did not specify how many staff it plans to have in the country. (The Logic)
Talking point: The company, which has other offices in North America and Europe, said in a release that it has seen “rapidly growing customer demand” from businesses in the Asia-Pacific region. The expansion comes after Trulioo recently laid off 24 people in Canada and expects total cuts to reach up to 50 globally. CEO Steve Munford told The Globe and Mail the layoffs were not akin to those at other tech companies that had to cut costs amid an economic downturn. Earlier this year, Munford told The Logic Trulioo did not plan to downsize as it was cash-flow positive. He also said the company was likely two years out from an initial public offering.
