Talking point: Crypto fans like to boast about how digital assets trade worldwide 24 hours a day without the limitations of traditional financial markets, but this deal demonstrates big players in the space still see value in the prestige and legitimacy that comes with a public listing on a major U.S. exchange. Circle, operator of the world’s second-biggest stablecoin USDC, announced Thursday it’s also planning an NYSE SPAC listing that values the firm at US$4.5 billion. The news of Bullish’s listing plans is another example of big-name, big-money interest in DeFi, or decentralized finance, with the company planning to run a decentralized trading network.
