The automaker’s Canadian website has banners urging shoppers to “explore pre-tariff priced inventory while supplies last” and “receive pre-tariff pricing on remaining inventory.” Neither the U.S. nor Mexico websites carried that warning when accessed from Toronto. (The Logic)
Talking point: Car prices have also risen as much as 21 per cent on Tesla’s Canadian website, ranging from an $11,000 price hike for the long-range, all-wheel drive Model 3, all the way up to a $30,000 price increase for the Cybertruck Cyberbeast option, according to the blog Drive Tesla Canada. The change comes after Tesla executives warned in the company’s earnings call last week that its bottom line would be hurt by tariffs on Canada and Mexico. The automaker has also faced backlash in Canada and around the world since CEO Elon Musk joined U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration. In February, Musk published, and later deleted, an X post declaring that Canada is “not a real country.”
