The smaller telecom said it wouldn’t make payments for wholesale internet access until Bell and Rogers refunded it money. “The matter is before the CRTC and we can’t comment further,” said Rogers spokesperson Gamiela Fereg. Talking point: TekSavvy’s request follows Thursday’s Federal Court of Appeal ruling that found the big telecoms needed to retroactively lower their wholesale internet rates. However, that ruling is far from definitive. The big telecoms could appeal to the Supreme Court ,and the federal government said it could intervene. TekSavvy is the largest independent internet service provider in Canada. It has used other tools in the past to try and lower internet rates, including calling for the Competition Bureau to investigate Rogers and Bell.
