The global energy supply crunch improves the odds that the proposed Ksi Lisims LNG export facility near Prince Rupert, B.C., will go forward, said CEO François Poirier, who added TC Energy would be interested in building and running the gas transmission line to supply it. (Financial Post)
Talking point: The Nisga’a Nation and Houston-based Western LNG, who co-own the Ksi Lisims project with Rockies LNG, bought the Prince Rupert Gas Transmission line from TC Energy in 2024 as the Calgary-based firm looked to cut spending. The war in the Middle East has boosted prospects for Canadian LNG in Asia, and Poirier said an export pipeline to the West Coast would offer “the most bang for your buck” as Ottawa seeks to diversify trade. There have been no talks about it yet, Poirier said, and it would depend on what else is on the go. The company has recently been focused on U.S. investments with better returns.
