Martha Rogers and Melinda Rogers-Hixon, who are both on the board of Rogers Communications, have filed a petition to the B.C. Supreme Court demanding documents they claim other directors have and saying their family company’s treatment of them has been “oppressive.” None of the assertions has been proved in court and Rogers Communications did not immediately reply to The Logic’s request for comment. Talking point: Martha Rogers was an especially fierce critic of her brother Edward’s efforts to take control of the telco in 2021. Ultimately, Edward Rogers ousted Joe Natale as CEO (he’s now in his own legal battle with the company) and installed former chief financial officer Tony Staffieri instead. The sisters’ petition alleges the family fight continued after that, as late matriarch Loretta Rogers challenged her son’s command of the Rogers empire. With private attempts to resolve the differences having failed in September, the court petition says, the sisters filed suit on Wednesday.
