Talking point: Ownright, which launched in March 2023 with a $1.25-million pre-seed round, connects clients with its real estate lawyers in Ontario to facilitate a purchase or mortgage renewal. It plans to use the latest funding round to leverage automation to scale up the company. The traditional process can be laborious and difficult for homebuyers, according to CEO Robert Saunders. “One of our ambitions is to become Canada’s real estate lawyer,” he said in an interview. The company also changed its name, because it wants to be a part of the entire ownership process, not “just be at the front door,” Saunders said. Relay Ventures is also an investor in The Logic.
