Talking point: Investors have been increasingly focusing on environmental, social and governance factors, with Canadian banks and other large companies under pressure to let shareholders have a say on their climate policies. Power Sustainable says the agriculture and food sectors are prime targets for more sustainable practices. “Companies that are embracing and integrating sustainability practices in their business models will lead the transformation of our global food system,” Jonathan Belair, the fund’s managing partner, said in a release. Belair and other leaders join Power Sustainable from Lios Partners, a Toronto-based fund that will be folded into the Power ecosystem. The fund has already attracted investments from “leading North American institutions” and expects its initial close to occur in the second quarter.
