Talking point: Nextdoor Canada launched in 2019 and opened a Toronto office after it found the country had the longest member waitlist. It seems the hype has held up in Vernon, where more than 60 per cent of users engage daily despite some of the app’s problematic aspects. Across the platform, Nextdoor says its 27.6 million average weekly active users engage with its platform more often than those of Amazon, Netflix, YouTube or The Weather Channel. In addition to billionaire Vinod Khosla, it is backed by other influential investors like Bill Gurley and Tiger Global.
