Talking point: In an email to The Logic, Netflix Canada spokesperson Lindsey Scully declined to comment on the report. Netflix would be the latest service to increase its monthly fees, which it plans to do after the current actors’ strike ends. (Their strike is separate from the writers’ strike, which ended after five months.) Warner Bros. Discovery’s ad-free Discovery+ subscriptions will go up US$2, the company said yesterday. Major platforms’ ad-free services’ prices have risen roughly 25 per cent over the past year as firms seek to reach profitability and lure customers to switch to their ad-supported plans, which earn more revenue. Streamers have also started to explore asking customers to pay for exclusive programming, like live sports.
