Talking point: The Ksi Lisims megaproject, a floating LNG export facility proposed off the B.C. coast, received conditional regulatory approval from the federal and provincial governments this week. B.C. Premier David Eby said getting LNG exports to Asia is a crucial way for Canada to diversify its trade relationships and reduce its reliance on the U.S. The project still faces opposition from four First Nations that have been asked for consent, as well as some environmental groups. Eby said he’s counting on Clayton and the Nisga’a Nation to help convince other Indigenous communities to support the project before the limited window of opportunity closes.
