Talking point: U.S. technology and standards are vital to America’s national interest as the country looks to maintain economic strength and, by extension, military power, according to the president’s national security strategy. Canada must rethink its own policies to build up sovereign strength in those industries, CCI said in a release. At a press conference in Montreal Tuesday, Industry Minister Mélanie Joly said reviewing Canada’s economic security strategy is part of her mandate, which includes looking at the Investment Canada Act, the law that governs which large foreign direct investments are in Canada’s interests.
