Talking point: The last few years have seen the company grapple with internal turmoil and customer discontent after key platforms like Twitter and Facebook added large fees or cut off third-party access to their application programming interfaces. Though Hootsuite played down the impact of the changes at the time, The Logic reported on the internal chaos that ensued after about 10 per cent of its staff was laid off in April. Holmes told the Financial Post the company has now found more solid footing, with the restructuring allowing it to be profitable. The firm is now on track to make $200 million in annual recurring revenue this year, he said, and its new CEO’s priorities will be expanding its product line, looking at potential acquisitions and strengthening the business.
