Selim Bassoul, who was named CEO of the Montreal-based firm in February, will be replaced by Najib Maalouf, who joined the company as chief operating officer in March. Talking point: Goodfood warned late last month that “investors could see the value of their investment decrease significantly” if it does not stabilize its finances and debt, and its share price is down about 82 per cent over the past month. Though Maalouf has only been on the COO job a few months, the company’s board praised his efforts to improve corporate efficiency, adding that his knowledge of the company will ensure continuity. Goodfood’s co-founder stepped down as COO in January and its chief financial officer left in March. Other meal kit companies are facing their own trouble. Blue Apron vendor FreshRealm filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year.
