Talking point: The partnership between EQ Bank and Flinks, in which National Bank bought a majority stake last year, is yet another sign of growing cooperation between Canadian fintechs and smaller banks in areas like open banking and payments. “With Flinks and EQ Bank coming together, EQ customers will be able to use hundreds of applications seamlessly and securely,” Equitable Bank CEO and president Andrew Moor said. With Canada expected to roll out an open banking system sometime next year, RBC also announced a similar partnership with Plaid in June to provide third parties with access to its customer data.
