The Toronto-based impact investor is aiming to raise US$125 million total for the fund to invest in startups focused on women’s and children’s health. Talking point: Investor interest in women’s health care has been growing in recent years. According to Silicon Valley Bank, venture investment in the category grew 59 per cent in 2024, outpacing growth in the broader health-care sector. While it dipped somewhat in 2025, the bank anticipates a rebound in 2026. CBIV estimates that the markets it targets—including maternal and fetal health, reproductive health, oncology and AI-driven diagnostics—are worth US$625 billion today and could reach US$1.1 trillion by 2035. The firm’s first fund, which was US$90.3 million, backed 11 companies, including British diagnostics startup Daye and fetal ultrasound software company Sonio, which Samsung Medison acquired in 2024.
