Talking point: Canalyst, which has offices in Vancouver and New York, operates a platform that gives finance professionals access to models and data on publicly traded companies. With the new funding, the startup plans to double its headcount from 200 as it invests in product development, global expansion and customer support, it said in a press release. While Canalyst’s product was initially built for public equity managers, its offerings have expanded to serve investors focused on credit, private equity and venture capital. “Canalyst’s data moat is substantial and will continue to compound,” Christian Jensen, partner and co-head of private investments at Dragoneer, said in the release.
