Talking point: The fresh capital follows an announcement Monday that BAI agreed to acquire Mobilitie, the largest private telecom-infrastructure company in the U.S. CPP Investments had recently been trying to buy Mobilitie itself, and was considered the top suitor. BAI has already expanded its cellular and Wi-Fi infrastructure substantially since CPP Investments made its first contribution to the company in 2009. Through its subsidiary Transit Wireless, it’s built mobile infrastructure for subway systems in Toronto, New York and Hong Kong. The latest acquisition is expected to help BAI expand its 5G network.
