Talking point: Former Communitech CEO Chris Albinson left the post in late 2024. Under Albinson’s three-year leadership, the hub struggled with declining membership in the wake of COVID-19 and high employee turnover. Entrepreneurs in the tight-knit tech community said the hub also shifted focus away from supporting local startups to larger companies across the country during that time, including through Albinson’s venture capital endeavor, the True North Fund. Communitech has since made efforts to increase the representation of tech leaders at the organization, including by adding three local tech CEOs to its board.
