DesRosiers Automotive Consultants estimated that 91,411 light vehicles were sold in Canada last month, up 0.6 per cent from a year ago—when the semiconductor crisis was just taking hold and some provinces were under stay-at-home orders after the second COVID-19 wave. (The Logic)
Talking point: All eyes will be on this month’s sales data after January’s sales gains were “meagre,” the consultancy said. “January is usually the lowest sales month of the year and has limited impact on overall annual sales, but it is clear that, at least for now, the discrepancy between market demand and market supply persists,” managing partner Andrew King said in a statement.
