Talking point: Canada is currently weighing an offer from the EU to join the European High Performance Computing program, which grants compute access to researchers and startups. In the new year, Canada plans to put out a request for proposals to build a new $700-million AI supercomputer. The U.K. is already a member of the European program, and Digital Technology Minister Ian Murray told The Logic that Europe is keen to exchange technological expertise with Canada. Solomon hasn’t made a decision yet, but said his responsibility is to make sure Canadian researchers have the “most advanced” access to compute.
