Talking point: Canada’s bid to strengthen critical minerals alliances comes as some miners raise concerns over the potential of being caught up in geopolitical tensions at the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada conference in Toronto. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is also set to meet Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in Canada this week, where the two leaders are expected to discuss critical-mineral collaboration. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Innovation Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson all made appearances at the mining conference. PDAC president Alex Christopher told The Logic he’s working with the government to ensure miners get more regulatory certainty.
