The former president of MeridianLink, a digital-lending company, and partner at private equity firm Thoma Bravo will take the reins at Benevity on Sept. 3. Maloof replaces Kelly Schmitt, who has chosen to step down after six years as the company’s chief executive. (The Logic)
Talking point: Benevity is one of Alberta’s most prominent startups, and secured a milestone $1.1-billion deal with U.K.-based Hg Capital in 2020 after several years of fast-paced growth. It offers a digital platform for companies’ corporate social responsibility efforts, and has built up a client base including major names like Microsoft and Coca-Cola. Maloof will “lead its next phase of growth,” Benevity said in a release, but did not specify those growth plans. In his former role at MeridianLink, Maloof launched various new products and led several acquisition drives, “ultimately charting a growth path to a successful IPO,” the release said.
