The company said in a memo to staff Wednesday that it will stop offering Amazon Care services at the end of the year as “it is not a complete enough offering for the large enterprise customers we have been targeting, and wasn’t going to work long term.” (GeekWire)
Talking point: The e-commerce giant said it made the decision before and independent of its upcoming acquisition of One Medical. Last month, Amazon announced it would purchase the virtual and in-person care provider, which operates in 15 U.S. metro areas, for US$3.9 billion. Before the announcement, Amazon had planned to expand Amazon Care to more than 20 new cities this year. It is also reportedly looking to acquire U.S.-based Signify Health, which offers a platform for health data and analytics, among other products.
