The Oakville, Ont.-based automotive technology company said it will provide a data analysis platform to fleets using Rivian’s commercial vehicles in the U.S. The partnership will help fleets boost profitability and improve productivity, compliance and safety, the company said in a release. Talking point: California-based EV startup Rivian, which has a software hub in Vancouver, is best known for its outdoorsy SUVs. It also has a deal to provide 100,000 package delivery vans to Amazon. The e-commerce giant has surpassed FedEx and UPS in parcel delivery volumes in the U.S. and built the country’s biggest private EV-charging network in recent years, and is trying to put more driver-safety technology in its vehicles. Rivian recently ended its exclusivity agreement with Amazon, opening itself up to more commercial customers. Geotab said its software will be available for all commercial connected Rivian vehicles in the U.S.
