Talking point: The tech giant committed an initial US$4 billion to Anthropic last September. The U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority looked into that deal, but decided not to take any antitrust action. The new agreement gives Amazon a marquee user for its in-house AI chips, which it offers as alternatives to market leader Nvidia’s graphics processing units. Anthropic is one of the leading players in the LLM market, regularly competing with OpenAI’s products on tests of how well models perform.
