Talking point: This is the second time Air Canada has been locked in labour disputes in less than a year, after negotiations with pilots last year similarly ground to a halt. Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau said the airline has requested government arbitration to help with negotiations, avoid a shutdown and “mitigate the impact on travellers, business and the Canadian economy.” In the event of a shutdown, Air Canada Express, operated by Jazz and PAL Airlines, will continue as normal, the company said.
