The Canadian arm of the accounting and consulting giant said in a release it plans to spend the money over three years to expand its artificial intelligence offerings and “help clients reimagine their businesses through the power of generative AI.” (The Logic)
Talking point: AI has been white hot since the November launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, a chatbot that can write code, pen poetry, pass legal exams and facilitate medical diagnoses. PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada plans to leverage OpenAI’s software through its “industry-leading relationship with Microsoft,” which has reportedly invested US$13 billion in OpenAI. PwC Canada’s announcement follows a similar one from its American counterpart in April that involved a US$1 billion commitment to expand its use of the technology. The accounting firm will use a portion of the money to educate 9,000 of its own staff in AI.
