Startups selling AI tools that make drug discovery faster and cheaper are a hot ticket in the now-viral sector, and the rounds tend to be large—companies in the space raised US$3.62 billion in 80 deals last year, and US$4.56 billion across 97 in 2021, per PitchBook. BenchSci itself closed financings in each of the last two years. Belenzon said the firm will use the new capital to expand its platform.
