Talking point: The federal government recently gave South Korea’s Hanwha Ocean and Germany’s TKMS three extra weeks to improve their bids based on Canada’s defence industrial strategy. “Think hard about whether you have more to put on the table,” Guzman said Monday. He said there is “conscious observation” of Canadian content and jobs, as well as technology transfer and IP sovereignty for Canada, as Ottawa considers the bids. Vincent Robitaille, assistant deputy minister of procurement, said the jobs created will also be tracked after the fact. Guzman said the agency will also be held accountable for its goal of speeding things up.
