The Canadian grocer said it has launched an app in ChatGPT that can answer questions about meal planning, offer menu ideas, create a shopping list at a nearby Loblaw store and take the order through checkout. (The Logic)
Talking point: The retailer is among the first in the world to launch a fully integrated app within ChatGPT, wrote Lauren Steinberg, Loblaw’s chief digital officer, in a LinkedIn post. Many people in Canada already turn to ChatGPT to ask it what to make for dinner or to create specific diet plans, she said, and now they can shop its suggestions without leaving ChatGPT. Loblaw’s PC Express app is now available in beta, said Steinberg, who runs the company’s growing digital arm. It is the latest firm to jump on agentic commerce in an attempt to meet people where they are increasingly expected to shop.
