The Montreal-based greentech company will install Airbus’s modular hardware unit at its Deep Sky Alpha test facility in Innisfail, Alberta. The unit, which was brought to market in 2023, can remove as much as 250 tons of carbon dioxide per year from the atmosphere. (The Logic)
Talking point: Founded in 2022, Deep Sky specializes in direct air capture, which draws carbon from the air. The company typically licenses and develops direct air capture technologies for other companies. Deep Sky Alpha came online in August, amid plans to develop as many as 10 direct air capture technologies. In December 2024, Deep Sky received a US$40 million grant from Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy. The company has raised roughly US$62 million as of December, according to Pitchbook data.
