The Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board logged a 1.2 per cent return in the first half of 2022. Its net assets increased slightly, from $241.6 billion at the end of last year to $242.5 billion as of June 30. Talking point: OTPP is still on track to reach $300 billion in net assets by 2030, said CEO Jo Taylor in a statement. Taylor attributed the positive results amid rising inflation and interest rates to the firm’s diversification and active investment strategy. He said OTPP is well positioned “to navigate through what is likely to be a challenging investment landscape over the next few years.” The fund’s infrastructure and other inflation-sensitive investments helped offset losses from its public equities, venture and credit portfolios, said chief investment officer Ziad Hindo.
