Talking point: Binance saw the most volume of any centralized crypto exchange, with more than US$9.5 trillion, accounting for roughly 67 per cent of all centralized-exchange volume. Clearly, its regulatory woes haven’t been getting in the way of its success. The company is under scrutiny in Singapore, Thailand and the Cayman Islands. It also recently exited Ontario after a crackdown by provincial regulators on unregistered crypto exchanges operating in the jurisdiction. Other Canadian exchanges, meanwhile, have been trying to differentiate themselves in the market by embracing regulation, rather than trying to avoid it.
