The Montreal-founded startup that rents office space to companies is setting up a new program called Breather Passport, which will enable users to purchase monthly passes, instead of booking workspaces on a daily basis. Talking point: Breather’s thinking around launching its Passport program was to allow companies the flexibility of selecting the number of day passes they want each month and paying a fixed price for it on a monthly basis, starting at US$225 per day. The company said there are no hidden “per seat” additional fees, and workspaces can accommodate up to 50 people. Breather has had its fair share of troubles, even prior to the pandemic—it laid off 17 per cent of staff in December 2019, and saw its occupancy plunge in March and April. But CEO Bryan Murphy claims 75 per cent of its office space is being used currently, and that the Passport program is yet another way for the company to “increase usage.”
