Talking point: WeCommerce was founded by Victoria-based tech investors Andrew Wilkinson and Chris Sparling through their venture firm Tiny Capital, with the intention of acquiring businesses within the Shopify partner ecosystem. So far, WeCommerce has acquired six Shopify partner businesses including Foursixty and Out of the Sandbox. Tiny Capital, which is also an investor in The Logic, initially gave WeCommerce $25 million to begin acquisitions—the money raised from the go-public round and the private placement will be used to further acquisitions of software companies within Shopify’s ecosystem. Wilkinson himself owns over 32 per cent of the common shares in WeCommerce. Tiny Island, Wilkinson Ventures and Tiny Capital—all entities controlled by Wilkinson—are also major shareholders in WeCommerce. Sparling will be made CEO of the new publicly traded company.
