Talking point: Rogers recently predicted flat revenue in 2025 and reported growing debt, even as it has sold assets to try to pay down debt it took on to buy former rival Shaw. It has been investing more in sports, however. That includes spending $4.7 billion to buy Bell’s stake in Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, which owns Toronto’s NHL team, so at least the Leafs’ share of the broadcast rights money won’t go into a competitor’s coffers.
