Talking point: CannTrust requested the cease order after it missed the filing date for the six months ended June 30, and said it will likely miss its next earnings report while Health Canada investigates the company. The moves follow revelations that CannTrust insiders sold $6 million worth of stock after learning the company had grown unlicensed product at its facilities. The order allows the company to follow “alternative information guidelines” for reporting its financials, which includes providing biweekly status reports via press releases. In July, the company hired an adviser to help it find a buyer. Meanwhile, KPMG, CannTrust’s auditor, said the company’s 2018 financial statements, which it previously approved, can no longer be considered accurate.
