The new version Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree introduced Wednesday afternoon doesn’t include new powers for police and security services to get user data from online service providers. It also cuts a provision letting Canada Post open letters in criminal investigations and another making it a money-laundering offence for certain entities to take cash payments or donations of $10,000 or more. The new Bill C-12 keeps other provisions, including changes to the immigration system and broader search powers for border guards. (The Logic)
