Talking point: In order to avoid its recent controversy, Facebook has been trying to educate its moderators in the lead-up to an election around each nation’s hot-button political issues, to mixed results. According to Motherboard’s sources, the company has already prepared for upcoming elections in countries and areas including Canada, the Middle East and the U.S.. Similarly, Facebook has created new controls around election misinformation ahead of European Parliament elections this spring. The new system controls how political ads are placed; the company has also hired more human content moderators in Dublin and Singapore. Both will come in March.
