Talking point: GolfNorth is owned by former BlackBerry co-CEO Jim Balsillie and operates 500 courses in Canada. The firm will be the lead on designing, operating and maintaining the golf courses, part of resorts that will include luxury villas and wellness retreats. Construction on its first projects, in Saudi cities Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar, is slated to begin this year. “This is a unique opportunity to take Canadian brand, technology and management skills globally,” Balsillie said in a press release.
