The Toronto-based legal software firm had been without a permanent CEO since Matthew Proud left more than six months ago in a board and leadership shakeup amid an activist investor campaign. The company also named Avjit Kamboj as chief financial officer, and Nikesh Patel chief product officer. (The Logic)
Talking point: Tvisin previously worked as general manager of software and corporate markets and strategy with LexisNexis, and chief product officer at Nielsen before that. The appointment follows a tumultuous period for the company after U.S. hedge fund Engine Capital accused it last year of underperforming and strategic missteps, and pressured the company’s board to resign en masse last December. In a press release Monday, Engine founder and Dye & Durham board chair Arnaud Ajdler praised Tvisin as a “results-driven leader” with experience turning around “underperforming software assets.” The company is still facing shareholder pressure, however, now from Proud’s holding company Plantro—the firm’s largest investor, which bid to buy Dye & Durham in February. In a statement Monday, Plantro criticized the new board for eroding the company’s value and not engaging with potential buyers.
