Talking point: Automakers like Honda may be slowing their EV production plans, but China is embracing the technology. CATL’s newest EV battery can charge at a rate as high as 75 kilometres every 30 seconds, giving drivers up to 800 kilometres in driving range, the Ningde, Fujian-based firm said last month. The technology would be well beyond what some of its clients, like Tesla, can offer today. CATL raised about $6.3 billion in the initial offering by telling investors it would stay focused on innovation, touting its patent portfolio and R&D spending. Its IPO comes amid a global resurgence in other new listings.
