The European aviation giant will work with Medicine Hat’s Landing Zones on training and simulation capabilities, its announcement said, to help prepare Canadian and allied forces for “the complex, drone-heavy battlefields of today and tomorrow.” Airbus would not reveal the amount of its investment but it is getting a seat on Landing Zones’ board. Talking point: The two companies had already worked together; the expanded partnership helps Airbus meet requirements for industrial spending in Canada attached to its multibillion-dollar contract to deliver a fleet of new and refurbished military transports. In April, Landing Zones was also the first recipient of an investment from the Business Development Bank of Canada’s new defence-oriented StrongNorth Fund.
