Caroline Mercer was an audience engagement editor, writer and researcher at The Logic. She has written for CMAJ News and Yale Medicine Magazine, and worked at Gale, a digital marketing firm, where she was a copywriter for clients including BMW and SodaStream. She holds a Master of Journalism from Carleton University.
The app, which uses a Bluetooth-based, decentralized system developed by Google and Apple, is a collaborative effort between the Canadian Digital Service and the Ontario Digital Service, with input from Shopify and BlackBerry
“We are working with a number of different partners on potential apps for contact tracing,” Trudeau said Friday, adding that the government is waiting for a June update from Apple and Google, after which the government “will be able to recommend strongly to Canadians a particular app that will help us manage the spread of COVID-19.”
