Pandemic depresses AI talent market, Element AI CEO’s report finds

Authored by Jean-François Gagné, the annual Global AI Talent Report notes a 20 to 30 per cent dip in job postings for new roles in AI since the outbreak of COVID-19. The field remains male-dominated, with women authors representing only 15 per cent of published research in the field, compared to 12 per cent in 2007. The pandemic has aggravated the existing gender imbalance, with women getting less research done than men. Meanwhile, less than two per cent of job postings in the field are for pure research positions. (The Logic)
